Aurum (2010)
These works were commissioned for the Bell Tower by curators Yvonne & John Millwood to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the North Norfolk Exhibition Project at Salthouse Church on the Norfolk coast. The painstaking labour involved in producing a series of (144) square gesso grounds across 3 canvases joined to make one installation reflect the light through the grid-like ancient leaded windows and reference the untold dedication of voluntary helpers that, over many years have toiled incessantly behind the scenes of village and church life. The work was hung from the tower roof slats on fishing line, invisible to the eye, to evoke a sense of gentle levitation.
The series of works were later exhibited as part of the Crossroads Exhibition at The Churchill, London. The show was selected and directed by Candlestar Cultural Agency to celebrate International Women's Day - March 2011.
